We love braids. We also love updos. When combined into one look, they're what we like to call "unstoppable." Check out our top 10 braided updos, plucked right off the red carpet.

Zoe Saldana

Zoe's classic milkmaid braid is positioned slightly farther back on the head, which makes it look more subtle and grown-up.

10 Most Ridiculously Expensive Haircuts Of All Time

main
The haircut, the basic of all hair grooming acts, can come anywhere between practical frugality and stylish squandering. When it comes to hair spending, there are many people who confessed not willing to pay for a cent to cut strands that will grow back anyway. It’s quite easy to understand – a scissor, a comb and a friend with 20-20 vision  is all you need. One can even ditch the comb and the friend for a DIY haircut. In contrast, there are those who have actually spent an equivalent to a home down payment just to tame their mane.
So what is the price of a haircut people are willing to pay? We rounded upa list of individuals who have consciously and willingly spent extravagantly for a not-so-simple haircut, a mix of men and women who represent the hair-raising price range that extreme tightwads merely consider ridiculous luxury.
While men get an equal share of the roster in this list, we believe that thousands of dollars more have been spent by anonymous hair divas from the time of Farrah Fawcett’s ‘70s angel waves to Kate Middleton’s Chelsea Blowdry today.
What are the most expensive haircuts ever, and whose heads do these mega manes adorn? Here’s our list, from the so expensive up to the so overpriced.

10. Jennifer Lopez

Jennifer LopezJennifer Lopez’s haircut demands are exclusively entrusted to the able hands of world renowned hairstylist Oribe. His fee comes up to $400 for even the simplest trim at the ends of Lopez’s week-old new growth. Oribe also do not do any haircoloring, his art is focused on the cut, so there’s got to be more that’s being paid for his specialty and mastery.

9. Jennifer Aniston

Jennifer AnistonNext on our list does not come as a surprise – Jennifer Aniston, who once made the world stop with the now iconic The Rachel cut she sported in Friends. The sitcom made its six lead stars not only famous but rich as well, but Jennifer went on being really popular with her ageless look, thanks to her $600 per service haircut from stylist Chris McMillan, who actually created The Rachel for her. And whatever the season may be, Aniston maintains the layered bob effect.

8. Rhianna

RihannaRihanna definitely gets a spot for the most expensive haircut due to the frequency of the hair services she requires from celebrity hairstylist Ursula Stephen. Rihanna reportedly requires almost a week of continuous hair care, topmost of which is cutting her hair here and there to achieve the ever-changing daring styles she sports on and off stage.  The fee comes up to almost $2,000 a week!

7. Michael Douglas

Michael DouglasThe year was 1969, and 25-year-old actor Michael Douglas was prepping up for his role as Carl Dixon for the movie Hail, Hero! As a student who quits school to join the Army, a scene in the movie required him to have his long mane cut, to the tune of $1,000 (that’s $6,000 today) paid to the “amateur barber” who did the job. Douglas was said to be unhappy with his new haircut, but a nomination as best newcomer of the year from the Golden Globes Award made up for the lost strands. He lost to Jon Voight who starred in Midnight Cowboy though.

6. David Beckham

David BeckhamRecently retired soccer superstar David Beckham got his rich, somewhat long mass of hair cut and softened as requirement for his endorsement contract with Brylcreem, the hair cream for gents’ sleek, smart hairstyle. The price: $6,000. The  look is to give Brylcreem a lift of modernity, promoting it not just as men’s hair cream for classic well-groomed hair but for modern, sporty men as well.

5. Beverley Lateo

BeverleyThe next on the most expensive haircut list cost $16,000 that was paid for to the locks of Italian billionaire Beverley Lateo from Pisa. The job was done by hairstylist to the stars, Stuart Phillips in his Covent Garden Salon in London. Apparently, Miss Beverley couldn’t find a suitable haircutter to give her long layers some fresh makeover, so Phillips of British magazines and ladies-who-lunch fame got the offer. It was not just indiscriminate spending after all, as the client got a service deluxe for her trip, including a limousine service, a champagne lunch and a luxurious massage, among others.

4. Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah

Sultan Hassanal BolkiahThe haircut of Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah of Brunei is on our fourth most expensive list, as the royalty pays an average of €24,000 (or roughly $31,000) to his favorite “barber” Ken Modestou from the salon of Dorchester Hotel in London. To get his job done, Modestou is flown first class to where the Sultan is. The fee may be so much to drool for those whose annual income sums up to that figure, but for the sultan whose estimated net worth is $17 billion, it’s just a drop of water in the ocean. Lucky Modestou has been in charge of  the sultan’s royal mane for 16 years.

3. First Lady Mamie Eisenhower

Marmie EisenhowerFlashback to the mid-1950s Washington, when First Lady Mamie Eisenhower started a trend that garnered mixed reactions. It’s the Mamie Bangs, and one either loved or hated it at that time. The First Lady got her famous bangs from Elizabeth Arden who cut and styled it for her in Paris. Mamie reportedly loved it so much she had Arden care for her haircut (or fractional haircut as it covered only half of the forehead) from thereon.
We will place Arden’s cutting and styling fee as easy guesswork (given her renowned skills and her client’s social status), and so it is justifiable to assume that it was a megabuck bang. Also, knockoffs of the Mamie Bangs (ready-made bangs that were the craze back then) flew off the shelves at $15 to $25 each piece, and that’s the 1950s.

2. John Paul Dejoria

DejoriaIn January 2005, John Paul Dejoria, a hair care guru himself and co-founder of the hair care company John Paul Mitchell Systems had his trademark ponytail cut off at a whopping price of $40,000! The extravagant chop was executed by Liza Geebons who is famous not as a hairstylist but as a TV personality. Although Dejoria is worth $4 billion, his family and friends also contributed to the haircutting “fee,” which went to the International Red Cross for the benefit of the victims of the tsunami in Asia.

1. Anne Hathaway

Anne H2Hatha-haters can hate Anne Hathaway all they want, but it does not change the fact that the actress is as lovely as one can be, whether in her princess hairstyles or in her post-Fantine pixie do after starring in the 2012 film version of Les Misérables. And it was this destitute Fantine hair that got Anne’s haircut into our list of the most expensive.
Why? Director Tim Hooper wanted a really savage haircut using a knife to make Anne’s languishing Fantine look realistic. West End actress Nicola Sloane was entrusted with “hacking” the  hair in the scene where Fantine sells her hair in exchange for an embarrassing sum. The award-winning actress cried buckets after the shoot for the murdered hair which she’s been growing for three years. But contrary to Fantine’s fate, Anne’s brave act in the service of her art was rewarded with a hefty (reportedly) $8 million paycheck! That makes it the most expensive haircut in Hollywood to date.

BOLLYWOOD'S 10 MOST POPULAR HAIR STYLES

1) The Sadhana Cut

alt
Besides making the tight-fitting churidaar a rage in Waqt, Sadhana also made the Audrey Hepburn-inspired fringe a phenomenon back in the ‘60s. The style was inspired from Audrey’s look in Roman Holiday. Sadhana’s wispy micro fringe gave a seductive but sweet look to her character in Waqt. Others have also tried to recreate the look, but none have come close to the impact that this style had over people.

2) The Bouffant

alt
Our gorgeous Bollywood beauties loved to pile their hair in a bouffant and let it hang along the sides. That was another fashion fad of the ‘60s. From the glamorous Sharmila Tagore, to the elegant Waheeda Rahman and Saira Banu, nobody could resist the beauty of a bulky bouffant.

3) Shammi Kapoor’s Ducktail hairdo

alt
When he wasn’t busy crying ‘Yahoo’ or dazzling ladies in his trademark cocky swagger, he was busy ensuring that his ducktail hairstyle with the side fringe became a trend! So much so, that the style was mirrored by all the generations of men. Yes, that’s how awesome this guy was.

4) Dimple Kapadia's hairdo in Saagar

alt
The hairstyle of the ‘80s meant more volume. However, people were simply crazy about Dimple Kapadia’s hairdo in Saagar. Dimple’s luscious, auburn mane was the second most talked about aspect of the film, after her brief topless moment in Saagar. The famous ‘Saagar Choti’, which is the Indian version of the French plate, also borrows the name from the film.

5) Amitabh Bachchan’s side burns

alt
The actor made the Elvis Presley look popular in the ‘80s. Long, middle-parted hair, with thick sideburns came to the fore with films like Deewar, Nastik and Kasauti. Young boys, too, took to this style and they were seen sporting side burns with long hair, much to the chagrin of teachers and parents.

6) Sanjay Dutt's long hair

alt
Among the males, no one wore his hair (and still does) with more élan than Sanjay Dutt. Long, unkempt, colored - it accentuated his sexuality in films such as Saajan, Rocky and the ‘90 hit, Thaanedar. He is the first star from Bollywood to start the long hair trend and the youth went gaga over the look.

7) Poker straight hair

alt
So popular was Karisma Kapoor’s severely straightened hair in Raja Hindustani, that the actress kept the style in many of her later films. Taking a cue from the actress was another B-town beauty, Preity Zinta, in her erstwhile hit, Kal Ho Na Ho. In effect, many women queued up to salons to get their hair straightened, too!

8) Aamir's Spikes in Dil Chahta Hai

alt
Aamir's goatee that he sported in Dil Chahta Hai was perhaps his most trendsetting look. The urban youth look portrayed by Aamir Khan was sostylish that swept through the young populace. Soon enough, the coming-of-age movie made the goatee and spiky hairstyle a popular choice and quite a strong fashion statement among movie lovers.

9) Aamir Khan’s Ghajini look

alt
A lot has also been written and spoken about Aamir’s chiselled six-pack look in Ghajini. However, the film sets trends in more than one. It gave a fresh new, bald look to Aamir that many of us would not have ever imagined, and also brought back the trend of action films in Bollywood. His fans couldn’t resist trying out the new hip, bald look. After all, who knew, shaving your head would be considered so cool?

10) Salman Khan’s Tere Naam look

alt
He could possibly wear rags and even that would become a rage among people, for his fans love to ape whatever he does; which is why it didn't come as a shock when his hideous and messy long hairdo in Tere Naam was copied all across India. Truth be told, it would have looked a big hot mess on anyone else.

The best haircuts of all time

One of the world's most revered style icons, David Beckham has surely spearheaded more trends than any other man in the public eye.
But while he has dabbled with double leather, manskirts and posing in his pants, no element of his style has changed more often than his hair.
Now a new poll, designed to find out men’s favourite hairstyles of the last 100 years, reveals that Mr Beckham has sported all the top ten hairstyles of all time – and the three worst ones, too.
The footballer, who was recently signed as Paris Saint-Germain's forward, showcased the number one hairstyle - the quiff - as he arrived at his hotel in Valencia today.

Number one: The quiff, made famous by Elvis in the 60s and one of Beckham's favorite styles was voted top 'do'
The father-of-four, who has dabbled with double leather, manskirts and posing in his pants, has changed his hairstyle almost more often than he's changed his clothes - and in doing so, has notched up every hairstyle on the best - and worst - list.
The poll revealed the quiff - the classic slicked-back look made famous by Elvis Presley in the Fifties -  as the top hairstyle in a new survey of 1,000 men.

In second place was the classic side parting and in third place was 'the Bieber' - the long-fringed look favoured by the Canadian pop hunk.
More modern cuts dominated the top ten, and a short-back-and-sides – the staple haircut of men for decades – didn’t even make the top 20.
Researchers were stunned when they studied the results to discover that style icon Beckham, 37, has adopted every single hairstyle in the top ten.

Beckham has sported some truly bizarre hairstyles such as the Mohican (left) and curtains (right) which both made the top three worst styles
Men were also asked to nominate the three worst hairstyles. These were curtains, cornrows and a mohican.
And Becks has had all three of these looks, too.
The poll was carried out by the Crown Clinic in Manchester - Britain's leading hair transplant centre.
It said that more men seeking transplants wanted their hair to be like Beckham's than any other celebrity.
The quiff became a staple of the British Teddy Boy movement in the Fifties before going out of fashion in the Sixties.
In more recent years, David Beckham, Radio 1 DJ Nick Grimshaw and pop stars like Zayn Malik from One Direction have all helped to spark a revival.

Bad hair day: Beckham's highlighted long fringe

Becks has had a quiff this year and is currently wearing his hair longer and slicked back in a side parting, as he showed off in his latest H&M underwear campaign.
Surgeon Asim Shahmalak, from the Crown Clinic, said: 'We will see men at the clinic who have a picture of David Beckham or sometimes another celebrity and they will ask us: 'Can I look like that?'
‘On most occasions, we can help patients to look like their idol. If they can fill out their hairline with a hair transplant, they can adopt many of the looks Beckham has.
‘Beckham has a wonderful head of hair and he has adopted so many amazing styles - that is why he is an inspiration to so many British men.
‘Whatever look he adopts always seems right - and sets the fashion for other men.
‘It is not surprise to me that, at some point in his life, he has adopted every single look in our top ten.’
Dr Shahmalak, hair loss expert on Channel 4's Embarrassing Bodies, said for many balding men the only style option was the short crop - number 8 in the poll.
He explained:  ‘Men who are losing their hair typically shave it off to cover up their baldness.
‘That really only gives them one option on their hairstyle - and after a while that can get a little dull.
‘A shaved head is not appropriate for all professions - if you think of lawyers or actors.
‘We work with a lot of celebrities who are losing their hair but cannot adopt the same look all the time. They come to us for a transplant and it gives their careers a boost.’
Dr Shahmalak has performed hair transplants on several stars including Christian Jessen from Embarrassing Bodies and the model-turned-actor Calum Best.
There was a 25 per cent increase in bookings after Wayne Rooney went public with his transplant.
